Micro Needling – Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)

The word “Needling” sounds a little aggressive right? Well I shouldn’t say aggressive unless we are talking about the results and that is exactly what we want.

Micro Needling or Collage Induction Therapy as it also is called, is done with a small hand held devise called a microneedle pen that makes tiny controlled punctures called a micro-wounds, or channels. These micro-wounds trigger the bodies healing process to produce new collagen and elastin within the dermis, (lower layer of the skin). Also new capillaries are formed for improved blood supply.

The creation of the micro-wounds allow topical products to penetrate deeper into the skin than they normally would. This increases the skins ability to utilize the nutrients by up to 3,000 percent!

Does “MicroNeedling” hurt?

Microneedling does not hurt, the “needling” part in the name might scare you but any discomfort will be alleviated with the application of numbing cream before the treatment. The treatment can be described as feeling like getting a rough microdermabrasion.

What does the microneedling treatment entail?

First we will clean your skin and apply the numbing cream. When your face is numb, after approximately 20-30 minutes, we thoroughly clean off all numbing agent and then you are ready for the procedure to begin.

Next, either PRP-Platelet Rich Plasma or Hyaluronic Acid is applied to the skin area to be treated. This allows the needling device to easily glide over your skin, and push the products deep into the dermis.  Each section of the face will be treated.

Following microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid, SPF will be applied to the skin. If doing micro needling with PRP , sunscreen is not applied so to get the best effects from the PRP. You can expect your skin to feel tight and warm.

You can expect your skin to be red,  flushed and may be slightly swollen most of which will subside within 12 hours.

A very important note is to use good skincare products after doing this treatment, especially good moisturizing products and nothing to harsh that can irritate your skin.

Microneedling Conclusion

Microneedling is a treatment that is good for all ages and skin colors. You can use this procedure on any part of your body to treat sun damage, pigmentation, acne scars, skin texture and even stretch marks. It is a fast comfortable treatment with very little downtime and should be part of everyones skincare process.

If you are not ready for, or not need a Fractional Co2 treatment. A series of microneedling treatments will do the trick.
