What are dermal fillers?
Injectable fillers are aesthetic products used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and volume loss caused by the natural aging process. These hyaluronic acid fillers are injected into areas to build back facial structure, add volume and contour the face for a more youthful look.

Who can have injectable fillers?
Common indications for injectable fillers are any patient that is looking to improve their facial features. If you have facial lines, sunken cheeks, deep nasolabial folds, a wrinkle filler can be used to fill and soften them. A patient that has an unwanted profile with regards to the jawline, chin, or temples now has a non-surgical treatment option. If veins on the hands have become more noticeable and the skin has less laxity then dermal filler placed in the area would be an optimal aesthetic solution.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not receive this or any dermal filler treatments? Safety considerations being a priority, during your private consultation our nurse and facial plastic surgeon will review any contraindications and create a custom treatment plan.
How long do fillers last in the face?
Depending on the type of filler used and the area it is injected will dictate its longevity. Lip injections tend to last the shortest time around 6 months but at our medical spa, we have used RHA and have increased that timeframe to over 18 months. In areas with less movement like tear trough and cheeks, you can expect hyaluronic acid fillers to last up to 2 years.
What Should I Expect for My Dermal Filler Treatment?
Our focus is always on enhancing your natural beauty and not have our patients look overfilled or overdone. We will carefully analyze your face and create a custom treatment plan that balances all your facial features. We want our patients to age gracefully and appear natural without the worry of surgery or downtime.
Photographs are taken and topical numbing is applied. Using a very fine needle, the filler is injected into targeted areas. Discomfort is minimal because ice and a vibration instrument are used during the injection process.
Redness at the injection sites usually subsides within an hour. Bruising can occur and can last for a few days but can easily be camouflaged with makeup. Patients can return to work immediately after treatment but with no vigorous exercise for 24 hours. Results will be seen immediately.
What if I don’t like my injections?
Most fillers used are hyaluronic acid and can be removed fairly easily by the injection of an enzyme, vitrase, into the area to dissolve the product.
Are facial filler injections painful?
This is a non-surgical procedure but a needle is still used to inject the wrinkle filler so there may be slight discomfort. At our medical spa, all our dermal fillers contain a pre-mixed local anesthetic within the product to reduce pain. We also apply topical numbing cream 15 -20 minutes before the start of the procedure and use a vibration instrument during injection to help as well. Additionally, ice will be applied for numbing and to help prevent bruising.
How much does it cost to get facial fillers?
Like with most cosmetic procedures, cost varies depending on the area being treated, the volume loss, severity of the correction, and the amount of filler required. These factors will determine if a single syringe or more is needed to achieve that goal. Costs range between $600 to $900 but always ask about our south bay specials and rewards program.
Is it safe to drive after having facial filler contouring injections?
