Juvederm™ is a natural hyaluronic acid-based injectable dermal filler. It is used to smooth out moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth. As we age, we lose hyaluronic acid from the skin, creating a loss in volume and structure. Injecting the facial filler Juvederm™ into skin folds and wrinkles replaces that structure and volume. Juvederm can also be used as a lip filler to increase fullness in the lips.

FAQ’s – Juvederm
What is Juvederm™ used for?
Anyone can use Juvederm™ for filling in nasolabial folds or “smile lines”, “marionette” lines at the corners of the mouth, and lip augmentation to enhance the lips.
What is the difference between Juvederm™ and Restylane?
Juvederm™ contains a higher concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid and is more concentrated than Restylane. Juvederm™ is smoother and less viscous which seems to be fewer bumps and less pain than with Restylane. Juvederm™ is also supposed to last up to 12 months, as compared to 6 – 9 for Restylane.
Could I be allergic to Juvederm™?
Allergies to Juvederm™ are extremely rare. We know this because it has been used successfully in the US and Europe for many years.
What are the Juvederm side effects?
At the Juvederm injection site, you may experience bruising and brief redness which usually subside fairly quickly. Bumpiness in the area of injection is considerably rarer with Juvederm™ and can be massage out easily. There are no known serious adverse effects associated with the use of Juvederm™.
What will I experience when I get Juvederm injections?
When you come in for your Juvederm™ injection appointment, you will have numbing cream placed on the area that is to be injected for about 10-15 minutes. If you are having lip augmentation with Juvederm™, you will most likely get a numbing injection on the inside of the lip – similar to a dentist’s numbing injection. Ice will also be applied for numbing and to help prevent bruising. Once the area is numb and iced, the area will be injected with a thin needle and the Juvederm will then be gently massaged for a minute or two. You will be asked to ice the area injected intermittently for the rest of the day. The entire process will take less than 20 minutes after numbing.
Can laser treatments be done in conjunction with Juvederm™?
A combination approach to solving facial concerns always gives the best results. It is not recommended to immediately treat directly over the area where the dermal filler was placed. So, once the Juvederm has had time to integrate into the skin (about a month), it is OK to do these treatments. Deep dermal treatments like skin tightening should be outside the area.
Will I get bumps when Juvederm™ is dissolving?
No. Juvederm™ dissolves evenly and uniformly. The area injected will go back to looking similar as it did prior to injection.
Is it safe to drive after having Juvederm injections?
At the laser clinic, we treat clients with Juvederm from Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Torrance, Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, and Los Angeles and there is no problem for them to drive after the procedure.
How much does Juvederm cost?
Juvederm price is dependent on the area being treated, the amount of correction the client requests, and the number of syringes needed to achieve that goal. For example treatment of lips would be a single syringe and total Juvederm ultra cost of $550. The nurse injecting the dermal filler will discuss the exact cost specific to your concerns before any procedure is started.
