Your South Bay Micro Needling Provider

Micro needling aka Collagen Induction Therapy is one of the latest beauty treatments performed at the Laser Image Company in the South Bay.  We use the medical-grade MD Needle Pen which is a small handheld device with ultra-fine needles to make tiny controlled punctures called micro-wounds, or channels in the skin. These micro-wounds trigger the body’s natural healing process that produces new collagen and elastin within the dermis, and new capillaries for improved blood supply. This is essential to help reduce imperfections and give radiant skin. Results are a rejuvenated appearance, improved skin texture, and decreased wrinkles, pigmentation, and acne scars.

The creation of the micro-wounds allows topical products to penetrate into the skin. This increases the skin’s ability to utilize the nutrients by up to 3,000%!

Micro needling has had remarkable results with reducing stretch marks and regrowth of hair. Take a look at our microneedling before and after photos to see what you can expect.

The Science of Micro Needling

Many studies have shown that controlled injury of the skin at a measured depth will create an overall improvement in a skin condition. In the past, this would be performed with a single needle inserted into the skin and showed promising results. With the use of the new micro needling pen technology, the dermatologist or practitioner can create thousands of these microscopic injuries in a few minutes. Studies have shown that “skin needling therapy showed a favorable effect on enhancing collagen formation, an increase of epidermal thickening and synthesized tropoelastin, the precursor to elastin. This significant increase occurred three months after starting treatment.”

Frequently Asked Questions – Micro Needling

What is Microneedling?
Medical micro needling also referred to as collagen induction therapy is an old concept reinvented with the use of a professional dermapen. The procedure is aimed at stimulating the body’s own healing process by creating micro-injuries in the skin. The micro-channels created by the procedure allow for optimal absorption of topical products, enhancing their effects in the skin’s deeper layers. Micro needling can be done with your body’s own PRP, platelet-rich plasma, or hyaluronic acid.

Micro needling treatment will tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, traumatic scars, pores, and stretch marks.

What does micro needling entail?
Prior to starting the procedure, all of your skin concerns will be discussed and the nurse will create a specialized needle depth protocol for each area. Pictures will be taken and numbing cream will be applied to the area for 20 minutes to reduce any discomfort. If doing micro needling with PRP, blood will be drawn and spun in a centrifuge for 15 minutes to separate your Platelet Rich Plasma.  The area will be wiped clean and a small amount of the PRP or hyaluronic acid is applied to the skin and the micro needling tool is glided over the section several times. This process is continued until the entire face or area is treated.

The micro channels created by microneedling provide direct pathways to the deeper layers of the skin for optimal wound healing with the use of PRP.

Do stem cell treatments work?
Doing micro needling with PRP is pushing your own body’s stem cells into the wounds we create. This increases collagen production and enhances healing. Any remaining PRP will be applied after the treatment to speed recovery.

Is micro needling painful?
The actual micro needling procedure is not painful because a topical numbing agent is applied to the treatment area. Some patients say it feels similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin.

How long does it take to recover from micro needling?
Following the treatment, the skin will be red and flushed, similar to mild sunburn, which can last for 12 hours to 3 days. Patients may experience mild swelling, tightness, and/or slight peeling during that time. Healing time depends on the depth of the treatment, skin type, and skin condition but expect 1-3 days of pink skin.
