Have you ever been to your nail salon getting a mani/pedi and the minute they remove your polish you get embarrass? Not because you haven’t been there for a while, but because you have nail fungus on some of your toenails.
It is embarrassing but might be one of those things that you don’t really prioritize as you can cover it with nail polish many of times. Also, until a while ago the treatment for nail fungus was only with medication that affects your liver function. Maybe nothing you want to mess with if you really don’t have to.
What Does Nail Fungus Look Like?
Fungal infections can cause the nails to become discolored, thick, yellow, incurved, and can possibly cause the nail to break away from the nail bed. This can lead to a gap between the nail plate and the nail bed that allows for dirt, bacteria, germs, and fungus to live under the toenail and breed. Occasionally this can lead to odor as well.
Nail Fungus is a common problem that can effect the nail and cuticle of the hands and feet. This embarrassing condition is not really talk about but it effects millions of people.
Laser For Nail Fungus
I mentioned earlier that options for nail fungus treatment in the past have included topical creams or oral medications but these may effect liver function. But now there is another procedure we can do to treat those yellow thick nails – LASER!
The laser wavelength is so precise that it only targets the nail fungus infected area without damaging any surrounding tissue. This toenail fungus laser treatment also has a higher success rate then topical and oral treatments and without the risk of liver problems.
About The Toenail Laser Treatment
The procedure takes less then 30 minutes for both feet and you will feel a warming sensation on the nails being treated. It is not a painful treatment, but you will feel some heat on the target area. We have seen best results after 3-5 nail fungus treatments 4-6 weeks apart. In most cases you will have healthy nails, free from toenail fungus in 9 -12 months because of the growth time of the nail.
What To Think About
There is not much to worry about with this no downtime procedure. Before the treatment, you must remove all nail polish. We can not treat artificial nails, and if you have gel manicure/pedicure you must have it professionally removed before getting this treatment.
Immediately after the procedure, nail polish can be reapplied and you can go back to your daily activities.
