As summer comes to an end and we begin to welcome fall, we should take a look at our skin care regimen to make sure that will transition our skin into the drier weather. Summer is a time where the sun is hot and we spend as much time as possible outside enjoying the season.
Summer Skin Care Routine
With that our skin care routine is something like: cleanse in the morning, sunscreen, cleanse at night, moisturize and an occasional exfoliate or clay mask as our skin is producing more oil. Because we are exposed to the sun so much in the summer months our skin may start to look a little pigmented/freckly (darker sun spots), dehydrated and/or oily and congested.

What Should Your Routine be Now
Fall is a great time to start treating some of the ‘damage’ that was done to our skin during the prior season. Make sure to exfoliate at least once a week to sloth off dead dehydrated skin. The Clarisonic Skin Brush is an excellent means to clear pores and cleanse deeply for better product absorption. It will give a healthy glow to your skin by assisting in cell renewal.
What Additional Treatments Can I Do to Enhance the Results
Adding a professional treatment, such as a Hydrafacial or Chemical Peel at least once a month will help to further those results. This is also a time to add a product to help lighten and fade any sun damage we have caused our skin, since we will not be exposed to as much direct sunlight in the coming months. Look at a cosmeceutical like Serum 16 by Cosmedix or something stronger like Prescription Lightening Cream.
Minimal exposure to direct sunlight is best when using lightening products as more damage can be done if the sun is not avoided. This can be done 3-7 times per week and in combination with a professional treatment for best results.
